If you like to get in touch with the history, you should definitely visit the Lefortovo Park. This Moscow park was opened in 1703, under Peter I. The Lefortovo Park is the first regular park in Russia, it was well known in Europe. It is considered that it was this park to become the prototype of the future park ensembles of St. Petersburg. Under empress Anna Ivanovna, the park used to be called "Versailles on Yauza", since the principle of its construction was copied from the well known Versailles ensemble. Since the XVIII century, three terraces of red brick, the system of ponds and channels fed from the Sinichkariver, a picturesque grotto created by Rastrelli have survived. The dam-bridge separating the ponds which forms the main lane lined with linden trees has survived as well.
